Patricia Chandler's landscapes are not meant to stun the viewer with Maine’s beauty, but to reveal the wildness that remains here. This environment was essential to the artist’s development as a young girl, and is the necessary habitat for thousands of forms of wildlife. In all of Patricia’s paintings there is a continuum that began in realism, and over time evolved into more expressionistic, abstracted landscapes.

Patricia has retained an interest in the various forms of realism persisting in contemporary 20th and 21st century art. In her own work realism sometimes asserts itself as a meditative study of sorts.
